Product Description

Cam Magnet (uncut 10' roll)

This 10’ roll of 1” wide magnetic strip has adhesive on one side and can be cut with scissors, built up in layers, and used to alter the drop off of many belt driven cams. By increasing the moment at the stronger points in the range, the drop off becomes more dramatic. Actual examples are shown alongside the product picture.

Important Notes:
Because the degree of curvature, required layer lengths, and total thickness are specific to your equipment, we cannot accurately pre-build these for you.

The exact shape, length, and thickness of layering, must be specific to the cam on which you hope to use it. This always requires a trial and error process to develop the profile you are trying to achieve for your specific machine. Make small changes and try them for several sessions. Remember, a profile can only be judged by challenging reps!

The adhesive side should not be against the cam. Having been rolled, the magnet is already bent with the adhesive side out. Furthermore, you will want to move it slightly for different people, reps, or sets to adjust for fatigue.

When putting the layers together, hold each in the degree of curvature required to fit the cam. You will be unable to bend it after the layers make contact and adhere to each other. If you can actually hold it against the relevant portion of cam as you put the first few layers together, it will help. After the first 2-4 layers are adhered together you may be able to remove it from the cam and maintain the curvature as you apply more layers.

The examples pictured do not come with the order. They simple represent a few of the many options that may be helpful to build.

These magnets are designed for crafts and the level of magnetism is relatively weak. They work well for this application as they are typically held beneath a belt, but if excessive layers are used they can become heavy enough to exceed their own magnetic capabilities.

You may find some cable driven cams on which these work, but it will be very limited.

NOTE: Precise use of all RTS Exercise Tools is not as obvious as it may seem. They are not recommended for use by trainers that have not attended RTS courses that include detailed execution, progression, and cuing of/on the specific device!
In fact, if you think use of any of these tools can be generalized or standardized without considering the idiosyncratic realities of each and every individual then you obviously don’t understand it’s purpose nor the forces and internal influences associated, so please do not purchase from RTS.
